ABOUT IN SEARCH OF ECHOES

“In Search of Echoes” marks the third vinyl release from Detroit-based electronic music producer Scott Avery, continuing his genre-bending approach to dance music seen in previous vinyl and digital releases. In this EP, Avery delves deep, using sonar technology as a metaphor to discover new sonic territories.

The result is four bold and unfiltered tracks that embody his pursuit of creative imperfection. On Side A, Avery delivers a maximalist take on electro, while Side B offers a more restrained, minimal interpretation of techno. Throughout the EP, drum patterns defy convention, often pushing against the grid with familiarity and surprise; basslines pulse hypnotically, evoking a Morse code-style rhythm; and melodies emerge unexpectedly. In Search of Echoes is sonically vivid and conceptually distinct, reflecting Avery’s quest for an authentic and evolving sound rooted in artistic ingenuity.
